The guitar lesson was last night. And while I'm still a bit slow on playing the beginning of "Wanted Dead or Alive," my teacher was quite impressed that I could do it, since it's such an advanced song. The speed will come the more I do it. And I even purchased the book he wanted me to that teaches me the different notes on the strings...which will come in handy. I know how to read music...just not exactly where to play such things on the guitar. So, I'll work on that in addition to the song.

Whew. Lots of homework on guitar this week. Still loving it though!

Had one of the funniest and wildest conversations on the phone last night with marcgunn. But we got a some stuff worked out before that regarding the Celtic Music Magazine. Now we're just working on implementing it. :) I need to work up a few things for him and will try to do that tonight. But...thank you, marcgunn for all the laughs last night. You rock!

Didn't get my evening walk or my yoga in last night. Mostly because lessons keep us out until about 9:00 p.m. And then showers had to be taken. So...it was a moot point then. But we'll work it in tonight.

InCon is this weekend. It should be a lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing people again! And, ladystarblade and I are going to be working on a project while there. I'm pretty excited about it. She came up with a kick ass idea!

Alright...apparently there is an Alumni Board meeting tomorrow and my boss needs reminders sent out and phone calls made immediately following to find out if we'll have a quarum...otherwise...no meeting. It's iffy with the holiday. So we'll see!

The air conditioning is apparently not on in my building. And I'm dying. Honestly. I think I may prop the door open just to get air circulating...because it's stuffy and hot and I'm not being productive because of it.

Ugh.

And it's going to be humid today...so this won't be fun if the air doesn't kick on. And, of course, I left my ponytail holder at home today. All the other days I had it and had no use for it. I don't want to pull my hair back with a rubberband because...OW. GRRRR.

I hope this isn't an omen of how the day is going to run.

You just don't realize how dark your office is...until not only the power, but the back-up lights go out. Holy crap! They didn't stay out for long, but I honestly couldn't move because I couldn't see a thing!

Every time it monsoons outside...or at least rains hard like it is right now...my office leaks. Just over my desk. Just above a light.

Nothing quite like the fear of an electric shock to start your day off right.

Physical Plant is supposed to come and fix it...again. This happens every time. It has yet to be fixed.

congoddess and her boyfriend stopped in today...and gave me a stuffed IU bear, which now sits on my desk. Actually, Ritchie made it walk across the windows and to the door. He's an expert at the crane game...and apparently got three of those. LOL!

It's a bit demented...but...ah well.

But, you know...this was a very good weekend. Lots of good stuff. After the big day yesterday...and the big (but inexpensive) purchase of the day, I settled in last night...and naturally couldn't fall asleep. I tossed and turned much of the evening until I decided to haul my lazy carcass out of bed because I was bored of pretending to be asleep.

Then spent much of the day over at the house. But renquestor and only_playing came with us. And I must say, renquestor can cook a good burger. He was certainly the Grill Master. And only_playing definitely kept us sane. But it was a good (if not long) stay, but definitely good to be among friends. So, both of you...thanks for coming along and sharing in the afternoon. And for coming back to the apartment for awhile.

Tonight, I'm trying to keep my legs from stiffening up again. Ow. And been writing. Working on a few things...but, nothing major. Mostly writing a little.

Back to work tomorrow. Ugh. I don't want to go. And class. Don't want to go to that either.

Holy cow! Down to the last three weeks.

Whew. And what a busy day it was too. I was quite busy at work. I even finished up the Commencement timeline for next year. Which is good. I was supposed to have it done by today and that's exactly what I managed. That was a lot of work.

In addition to that, tonight was the Alumni Night at the Bats hosted by...the Alumni Office. Which means...my office. My event. And it was A LOT of fun. Totally. The Louisville Bats were kicking butt. And we ducked out at the 7th inning.

Grocery shopped.

Still have no idea what's going on tomorrow. But I'm sure it will be sorted.

Today flew by. I don't know if it's because my boss was out of the office all day...or if I was just really busy...or if it's because I was running through important midterm information in my head throughout the day or what...

I think I did okay on the midterm. I hope I did, anyway. It was short answers and essay. Not too bad. I don't think.

We'll see when I get it back.

Thursday we're watching Casablanca in class. Next week we were supposed to watch Invasion of the Body Snatchers, but my class (not me) chose to watch High Noon instead. Ah well.

Just been busy. Love that. But it's frustrating too.

JJW has moved into the office. I. AM. NOT. HAPPY.

This will be a nightmare. Just sayin'.

I've been pretty "meh" this weekend. I really don't feel as though I should complain...but I didn't get to really accomplish anything.

--I practiced my guitar for maybe 10 minutes all weekend. Will I know "Wild Thing" by Wednesday? Not when I have class on Monday and Tuesday. *sigh*

--I didn't read any of the 300 pages that I had in my book for class. This...is not good. Class is at 5:45 tomorrow night...and I bet Miss K will be in my office tomorrow.

--I didn't get to do my photo shoot. And this was something I've been looking forward to. Yesterday was shot. I mean, the entire day was shot. And today was cold and rainy outside which meant...no photo shoot. And this just puts me in a blah mood. As does the weather.

--I wanted to clean my room. I accomplished cleaning off the coffee table (but only because Maureen was over and she fixed the loose leg) and I did some culling of my greeting cards and letters that I've saved since, oh, 1994. Yeah, that took all day.

--I wanted to clean the apartment. I wasn't home long enough to even start on that.

--I wanted to draw. I mean, get out the sketch pad and draw. I didn't. But I did manage to create some LJ icons for ladystarblade...that she likes and will use. Well, two of them. One is already in use. The other has yet to be uploaded...but she likes it.

--I feel like an underachiever. As in what I've done in life thus far. Weird. I think it has to do with not owning slips of paper that document my successes. My memory is all I have to serve that purpose.

--San Francisco is going to be my big trip this year. I say this only because it's going to cost me everything I have to get out there. And, unfortunately, the trip falls at the same time my car payment is due, my college tuition needs to be paid, Dragon*Con needs to be attended (and paid for!), and my September birthday month of doom begins. It's going to be fun...as soon as all the logistics get worked out and I stop freaking out about the money situation. Come on economic stimulus check.

--My individual meeting is on Wednesday with JJW. I intend to voice my thoughts on the way I was treated last week. Because I'm still pissed off about it.

--I'm wondering if my job will be of any use in the near future. Special Events is being taken away from Alumni Affairs...and does the director of Alumni Affairs really need an assistant when Special Events are no longer involved? Things that make you go hmmmm...

--Laundry was pretty much the only thing on my list that needed to be done this weekend that I actually accomplished. That and baking banana bread.

Much sadness.

But tomorrow starts another week. Hopefully one that isn't as full of suckage.

Tomorrow marks the day that my office has been hoping for and dreading. Commencement finally arrives. And I still have no clue what exactly I am to be doing...but I guess I'll figure it out at the meeting tomorrow morning. I'm still mad I have to dress in a cap and gown. GRRR!!

So...FINALLY! Maybe life will be a little more tolerable after that.

Can I get a giant WOOT??!! Please?

Because...I maintained my straight A's this semester!! Yep...even in the class of hell and doom. I think I may be the first A Dr. Evil has ever given!!! And dammit...I worked damn hard for that too and feel like I really, really earned it.

So...this has made my weekend start off rather well. I just need to get through the hell that is the Friday before Commencement...and make it through Commencement on Monday and then...classes again...my guitar lessons...and all the other stuff I do so that I don't go stir crazy and insane.

Like concerts.

HA!

Barack Obama has left the campus. And is leaving the state to head back to Washington, D.C. Amazing. That's really the only word for it. He explained things that no other politician has explained quite like that. I was very proud to be a volunteer at this event. He really does believe that change can be made. And I believe that he can bring that change.

He's great with the public. He's excellent at asking questions and knew exactly how to answer them so EVERYONE could understand.

I knew this going in.

But...when you see it in person. Just...WOW!

A couple of weeks ago, the university that I work for...the one that I currently run special events for...brought in Chelsea Clinton to speak on behalf of the Clinton campaign.

Tomorrow...

Tomorrow we're bringing the community Barack Obama. Seriously. I spent much of today in meetings regarding the set-up and what all the volunteers need to be doing. Secret service was checking out the grounds, especially where the speach is going to be given. And it's just been insane. Seriously. There are so many rules that we didn't have to worry about with Chelsea because...well, this is Barack Obama.

So, into work I go tomorrow and will be spending a majority of my time inside the building working on the finishing touches before the crowds are let in. Two hours after that, Barack will show up and speak. Then...everyone leaves and that's that. ladystarblade will probably be one of the first in line because...she's coming in with me to hear him talk. It really is going to be a long day.

And...after all that...somewhere in there...I have to study for my final exam on Thurdsay.

And then my BIG one on Tuesday.

Holy crap!

I need a vacation.

Seriously.

Sitting here...getting plenty of done...but thinking...

1. I'm really getting tired of the phrase, "While you're doing that, could you also do..."

2. Meetings are the bane of my existence.

3. Commencement is going to kill me. And I start my summer class the day following.

4. I'm on the fence about whether I should transfer some of my tuition money on my guitar that I want...tuition is due...soon. And so is my $200 credit card bill. I'm thinking now is not the best time to buy my guitar. Much sadness. :(

And now...back to my multi-tasking.

I'm in so much pain. I hate heels. My feet are blistered. They hurt to walk on. My lower back hurts. I can hardly move.

*shakes fist at Chelsea Clinton*

I only blame her because her presence on campus made me have to get very dressed up.

Tomorrow, I have to help run a breakfast with the Department of Continuing Studies. That starts at 7:45 a.m.

I really...really...really wish my boss were still around.

I sometimes feel like I'm falling and there's no net to catch me. I just...keep getting weighted down with more and more stuff. And on top of that, another paper was added to my homework assignments, so just when I thought I was caught up. And next week is the last week of regular classes. Then comes final exams...followed immediately by Commencement.

And I just feel so overwhelmed.

...and I want my guitar...

I was working that event from 12:45 to 3:00. She was so soft-spoken I could hardly hear her at times. She doesn't really command a presence.

I'm hoping that they really do mamage to get Barak Obama in because I would truly volunteer my time to work that event (since I have to anyway being in Special Events).

My feet hurt. My back hurts. And I'm just ready to go home...

But first...class.

Yes...I'm very happy this week is over.

Even better...I have only two articles to work on. Nothing more. I finished my research paper. I'm done with my readings for the weekend. I can really just try to enjoy it for once. And that's a very, very nice thing.

We have some plans for tonight. Going out to eat. Grocery shopping. Tomorrow, there's a bit of stuff that we need to accomplish around the house. And around the apartment too. But nothing that is really demanding a lot of time. Which is nice...because that's something I haven't had a lot of lately.

What I REALLY wanted to do this weekend was a photoshoot. However, with all the rain that we've been getting the ground is going to be muddy and not good for what I had in mind. So the camera stays tucked away once again. *sigh*

Perhaps for the best, however.

Other than that, today I went to an interview for a paid study here on campus. That was interesting. Other than that...just trekking through. Got a lot of things going on. Especially on Monday...and only ladystarblade knows why. Ugh. Not happy about that one...but what can you do? Just what the big boss says!

Oh rain...rain...please...go away. We're due for a nice warm Sunday.
