Disappointments...

Let it go...
I've been pretty "meh" this weekend. I really don't feel as though I should complain...but I didn't get to really accomplish anything.

--I practiced my guitar for maybe 10 minutes all weekend. Will I know "Wild Thing" by Wednesday? Not when I have class on Monday and Tuesday. *sigh*

--I didn't read any of the 300 pages that I had in my book for class. This...is not good. Class is at 5:45 tomorrow night...and I bet Miss K will be in my office tomorrow.

--I didn't get to do my photo shoot. And this was something I've been looking forward to. Yesterday was shot. I mean, the entire day was shot. And today was cold and rainy outside which meant...no photo shoot. And this just puts me in a blah mood. As does the weather.

--I wanted to clean my room. I accomplished cleaning off the coffee table (but only because Maureen was over and she fixed the loose leg) and I did some culling of my greeting cards and letters that I've saved since, oh, 1994. Yeah, that took all day.

--I wanted to clean the apartment. I wasn't home long enough to even start on that.

--I wanted to draw. I mean, get out the sketch pad and draw. I didn't. But I did manage to create some LJ icons for [info]ladystarblade...that she likes and will use. Well, two of them. One is already in use. The other has yet to be uploaded...but she likes it.

--I feel like an underachiever. As in what I've done in life thus far. Weird. I think it has to do with not owning slips of paper that document my successes. My memory is all I have to serve that purpose.

--San Francisco is going to be my big trip this year. I say this only because it's going to cost me everything I have to get out there. And, unfortunately, the trip falls at the same time my car payment is due, my college tuition needs to be paid, Dragon*Con needs to be attended (and paid for!), and my September birthday month of doom begins. It's going to be fun...as soon as all the logistics get worked out and I stop freaking out about the money situation. Come on economic stimulus check.

--My individual meeting is on Wednesday with JJW. I intend to voice my thoughts on the way I was treated last week. Because I'm still pissed off about it.

--I'm wondering if my job will be of any use in the near future. Special Events is being taken away from Alumni Affairs...and does the director of Alumni Affairs really need an assistant when Special Events are no longer involved? Things that make you go hmmmm...

--Laundry was pretty much the only thing on my list that needed to be done this weekend that I actually accomplished. That and baking banana bread.

Much sadness.

But tomorrow starts another week. Hopefully one that isn't as full of suckage.

Another day in paradise...

The Book of My Life
Well...today was quite a busy day and much got accomplished.

The first thing that had to be done was laundry. Ugh. I hate laundry because it takes up about 2 hours of my day with the wash and then the dry and the treks to and from the laundry mat. But...it had to be done. It had been almost two weeks since it was done. FAR too long really as I only have a certain number of work shirts.

Then, it was over to the house to see if [info]renquestor and [info]only_playing could find anything that they needed now that they are set up in their new apartment. They took a few things and then headed off to her bridal shower.

After that, it was lunch with the family and then out to assist [info]ladystarblade with clearing out her old car that will be junked later this month. Then, she began helping with shoveling the rest of the driveway. As she got near the end and was standing near a car that still had snow on it...

I attacked. SNOWBALL FIGHT. I haven't had one of those in years and it was SO much fun.

Now completely cold, we headed inside and warmed up while watching The Mask on TBS. Homeward bound after that...and then out for a bite to eat at Tumbleweed.

Back home, took a shower, finished up most of my homework. So, it's been a productive day.

Things I need to accomplish by Wednesday:

1. Begin research for paper on James Bond & the Cold War.
2. Finish paper on 2 philosophers and where they would work in today's media.
3. E-mail interview questions to [info]marcgunn and [info]andrewmckee.
4. Buy birthday present for [info]ladystarblade.
5. Do up page of notes answering history professor's questions re: the reading for 3 points on quiz scores.
6. Pull interview with Siochain, decipher, and WRITE AN ARTICLE!
7. Update the Celtic Music Magazine...again.
8. Read chapter for Journalism Ethics homework.

On a side note...the yoga routine that we started on Saturday...OW. I am not that flexible. Ow. Ow.

Insane...

Monkees Groovy Button
The day today has been insane, but I have eased a lot of it by writing. It's nice to squeeze in three minutes away from the work throughout the day to work on something else and rest the brain.

Tonight is laundry night. And then more writing. Hehehe.

And I'm hungry. Again. GRRRR!

GAH!

Tomorrow is going to be insane. Just sayin'. Because not only is it the day before Dragon*Con...but it is also the day of endless meetings for me. And then on top of that...CLASS!!

Got laundry running right now. Then it's off to run some errunds. Then it's time to PACK!!!

And at some point I should probably eat something.

Wow...

Piano Man - Memories
Time is winding down for me here at the law firm. Tomorrow I start at my new position at the college. I can't believe that. And here I thought I'd be at this job up until I graduated. Silly me. ;)

I'm nervous, but excited.

I have gotten quite a few nice comments about my stint here at the law firm. That's been nice. :) Made me feel like I've done a bit of good while here. My boss took me out for lunch. And as soon as we sat down, the court called and he had to get back for trial. So...we ate really fast and he drove to the court house and I walked back. Quite a send off, eh? LOL!! Seems appropriate for me.

Got a new phone yesterday. It's red. I know...a red phone...for me. That's crazy!! But I'm waiting on a new ring tone. I downloaded Nickelback's "Rockstar" last night, but didn't realize the line about cheap drugs would make it into the tone. SO...gonna replace it with Bon Jovi's "It's My Life." Hehehe. Tried to do that this morning, but it won't go through. *shakes fist* Will give it a try again tonight.

The joy of laundry awaits me when I get home. And hopefully just a relaxing evening where [info]ladystarblade can destress. Methinks she needs it.

Hopefully tomorrow I can buy a pair of shoes to go with my dress and then get the blasted thing in to be altered. Time is running out. And I'm just a little freaked out about it. Just...a smidge.

Okay...gonna crawl back into getting things caught up before I leave. Wish me luck.

Whew...

Today has been one of those days where I haven't stopped for anything. I only have time at the moment because I'm about to go and cover the afternoon break for the receptionist. This makes my third time on front desk.

I'm exhausted. Sleeping hasn't been easy as of late. And when I do sleep, it isn't restful. I know a good bit of this has to do with the events of last week. But, I know I'd do a whole lot better if I could finally get some rest. I'm trying. I'll be tired...but when I lay down, I won't be able to actually rest.

I have had one project after another today. With the month wrapping up, there is a lot that my boss wants to get done. Deadlines, you know. Which reminds me...he left today at 1:00 and called and said he wasn't coming back. So, I guess I'll see what he adds to everything tomorrow.

And I'm so behind on everything. Not just work...but the regular life stuff too.

Someone...please set me back on track...

And...hmm...I'm hungry.

Alright...off to cover break and then get done the last of what I can before heading home. Hopefully it will cool down a bit tonight to permit a walk. And I seriously need to do some laundry.

Whew...

It's been a day. It started off a little sketchy. Got laundry together. Dropped the bag of laundry detergent so it piled in the middle of the floor. Joy. And then we ran out of laundry detergent, but thankfully had enough. Then [info]ladystarblade's load didn't spin out all the way so we had to put more money in and run it as two loads...again. You just can't win. But, it snowed for a bit. Started to stick. Then the air warmed up and it all went away. Isn't that always the way of it? Then it was off to Wal-Mart for some grocery shopping. Over to [info]ladystarblade's family home...where I poked around in the garage and literally froze myself to the bone. That garage is like a cooler or something. I was frozen to the bone and just couldn't get warm.

Went and saw "Ghost Rider" tonight. It was a decent flick. And Nicholas Cage has a 6 pack. Holy cow!! I mean, I've always had Nicholas Cage love...but my God, I didn't know he was built like that. *drool* It was predictable as all get out, but a fun flick nonetheless. I really want to see "Zodiac" next. Journalism movie. YAY!

Went to Blockbuster and traded out movies. Picked up "The Illusionist." Hopefully that will be good. Haven't heard too much about it. But the guy said that if we like this, we'll love "The Prestige" which is on our list of films to see anyway. So, YAY!

Bought a box of Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies while out too. Mmmm...my favorite. And it's compensation for Kit-Kat not putting out the mint Kit-Kat bars around Christmas which taste JUST LIKE THEM!! *sigh* So, thank God for the Girl Scouts. Hey...I used to be a Girl Scout. LOL!!

Okay...I need to find something to do.
