It's been one of those days...

  • Aug. 8th, 2008 at 9:58 AM
Eeyore sigh
It's just now 10:00 a.m. and apparently I can still do no right today. It's just not been a good morning at all. If it's going to go wrong...if it's going to backfire...it has.

Change in Fiction Plane plans this weekend...again.

Change in my plan to pay for my books. School bookstore is retarded.

Budget tight.

I'm a bit sad I missed the final Police concert. Haven't read much on it. Probably won't...because it will only make me even more sad that I wasn't there.

I'm not sad that it's over though. Because, I can't wait to see what each of them will do next.

I am sad that I can't go to any more of their shows. Dammit. Three doesn't feel like it was enough...though my bank account says otherwise.

Vacation plans are...changing again. Maybe. We're not sure. Just know that in September, our asses are out of Southern Indiana. THAT I can promise you.

I need to do laundry something fierce and am not quite sure when it will be done.

Apparently someone hacked into our school's homepage. Interesting.

I keep waking up at 3:30 a.m. This entire week. That needs to stop.

I discovered that ignorance is bliss when it comes to calories in foods...but I'm too damn curious for my own good. McAlister's Deli...Cheesy Spud...930 calories...*shakes fist* But it was so damn good.

Gas prices went up...again. This does not please me.

Tuition...how am I going to afford you if you continue to go up each freakin' year? Have pity on those of us who DO NOT WANT TO GET A LOAN TO FINISH SCHOOL!

It used to be cheaper to fly places rather than drive. Now, it's cheaper to drive. I worry for the mileage I will put on my car...even though it is reliable...I can't pay it off and immediately move into a new car payment.

I got paid today. WOOT!

This is really disjointed. Hmmm...I'll stop before I confuse myself.

Long day...

Whew. Do we know how to live it up on Saturday or what? Woke up this morning. Immediately decided to burn the Cleveland video to the DVD with menus. My computer didn't recognize my DVD burner. *sigh* Did yoga. Made breakfast. Gathered up the recyclables. Stepped out of the apartment only to discover that a dog did its business in the stairway and it was left there. *double sigh* Went to post office. Picked up two packages from out of the country. Went to drop off recyclables. Went to Best Buy. Had VERY HOT Geek Squad guy fix the problem. Took stuff home. [info]ladystarblade took the laptop upstairs, as well as the two packages. I ran to main office to bitch about dog shit in the stairway. Leave apartments.

We went and saw Ironman today. It was SO good. Just amazing. LOVED IT. I don't even know the history of Ironman...but the previews intrigued me. Glad I saw it. Can't wait for the sequal.

Went out to the mall in Louisville, despite it being Derby weekend. Not much traffic actually. Bought a few items and then left. Discovered that some jackass opened his door into my car door and left his white paint on my door as well as chipped away some of my red paint. *triple sigh* Yeah, that was enough to make me hateful for a good portion of the day.

Made a few more stops for some computer items and mailing envelopes and finally went home.

Spent most of the night working on a project. Got it done. WOOT!! Just now. LOL!! So, when I say most of the night, I mean from 4:30-11:45 p.m. Whew.

And the favorite won the Kentucky Derby. [info]ladystarblade and I watched i just in case the filly won. Sadly, she came in second...and had to be euthanized because she broke both front ankles. Saddness.

And other than that...just making more plans to keep ourselves occupied. :)

I CAN IZ SMART

Bon Jovi - Have a nice day
Hahaha.

Brilliant. Really.

Because our hacker friend couldn't come over right away this morning, so this left [info]ladystarblade and I to our own devices while waiting. And...WE FIGURED IT OUT!! We got it fixed and got her computer running. It's super fast now. I mean...woah!!

So, after all of that fuss last night and my post this morning...we have it fixed. It's working. And that's what's important.

Can I get a WOOT??!!

Computer suckery!

  • Jan. 27th, 2008 at 9:43 AM
That's a negative!
Yeah...suckery. A new word. But nothing else seems to fit this situation. If you thought you had computer issues, [info]sidewinder...just look at the hot mess that awaited [info]ladystarblade yesterday:

1. Computer taking forever to boot up.
2. Get idea to wipe computer hard drive.
3. Realize WipeDrive disc is with another computer.
4. Go to Best Buy and purchase WipeDrive program.
5. WipeDrive program is $30 more than expected.
6. Go home
7. I ask [info]ladystarblade about boot disc for after WipeDrive.
8. [info]ladystarblade doesn't know where boot disc is.
9. [info]ladystarblade drives to family house to find said boot disc with operating system on it.
10. [info]ladystarblade calls to say she can't find it and is coming home.
10. While she's heading home, I find the box with the computer boot disc and operating system.
11. I call [info]ladystarblade to tell her the news.
12. I start WipeDrive.
13. WipeDrive clears off the hard drive.
14. [info]ladystarblade returns home and realizes that the operating system on the boot disc is Windows ME (Millenium Edition).
15. Install Windows ME.
16. Try to install Microsoft Office 2003.
17. Get an error that says Microsoft Office 2003 is not compatible with Windows ME.
18. [info]ladystarblade cusses...a lot.
19. [info]ladystarblade goes to see if she can find a Windows XP disc at her family house.
20. Discover that the router for her wireless connection will not work with Windows ME.
21. [info]ladystarblade returns.
22. Bitch, bitch, bitch.
23. Use WipeDrive to wipe the computer again.
24. After much shouting, deliberation, and tears, we head out to Wal-Mart for a copy of Windows XP.
25. Cannot find anything but Windows XP Upgrade.
26. Discover all we need is the Windows XP Upgrade anyway.
27. Spend $105.85 on Windows XP Upgrade.
28. Return home.
29. Reinstall Windows ME from boot disc.
30. Install Windows XP Upgrade.
31. Halfway through upgrade, get error message about not having enough memory (uh...just wiped the whole computer and XP was on it before!) or the disc being corrupt.
32. More cussing, bitching, and anger.
33. Reinstall Windows ME again.
34. Try to install Windows XP Upgrade again.
35. Halfway through upgrade, get error message about not having enough memory or the disc being corrupt.
36. LOTS of swearing and bitching.
37. Decide to reinstall Windows ME and attempt to register it.
38. Realize that Windows ME is not set up for broadband internet, as it did not exist when operating system was made.
39. Install wireless adaptor for router anyway.
40. Cannot connect to Microsoft site because it is busy.
41. Bitch. Bitch. Bitch.
42. Try to install the Windows XP Upgrade again.
43. Halfway through upgrade, get error message about not having enough memory or the disc being corrupt.
44. Gave up and shut everything down.
45. Called hacker friend to come over this morning to fix it.

Seriously, folks...I can't make this shit up. And we really can't afford a new computer (or the hassel of Windows Vista...BLARF!). Nor could we really afford these programs, especially if they aren't working. Nor can we really afford to be down a computer.

Just sayin'.

GAH!

Keep your fingers crossed. We're going to need it.

Safe in Birmingham...

Road Trip
Well...I was delayed. The plane coming to Louisville that I was to board to go to Birmingham...was coming from Chicago. GAH!! But it finally got there. And I finally got out of Louisville.

Had dinner at The Olive Garden. Yummy.

Then it was getting settled in. My laptop started acting funny, but it's finally up and working. And I'm writing.

HAPPY!

WOOOOHOOO!!!

Stewart Copeland Love Me
Surprise of all surprises this morning. I get a phone call from the Vice Chancellor's secretary asking how big my monitor is. I have a really old monitor so it is really tiny. Well, the VC was getting a new monitor and her old one is a nice 17-inch flat-screen. The Captain brought it up and hooked it up to my computer. So, everything is so nice and visible now. I mean...WOW!!

I feel so loved.

Other than that, I had a hard time getting to sleep again last night. We had the beginnings of a storm. One rumble of thunder and a flash of lightning...and then nothing more. Too bad...I think the storm would have lulled me right to sleep. So, I'm a bit...zombie-like this morning, but I'll improve as the day goes on.

My boss still hasn't made it in and I haven't heard from her at all this morning. I'm clueless as to what is going on. But I think I'll work a bit on organizing the alumni publication while I await her arrival.

I hope everyone is having a good day...or as good as a day can be on a Monday!

*sigh* Here we go again...

Karate Kid Wax On Wax Off
Back into computer training today. And I had another restless night. UGH!! I remember checking my clock after tossing and turning for a good portion of the night. It was 3:00 a.m. then. My alarm went off at 5:50 a.m. So...kind of running on fumes. And I wish I knew what was keeping me awake.

Although, the shelf in one of my closets fell yesterday. That scared the hell out of me.

Ugh. TOO TIRED!

BLAH

Let it go...
You know...with the exception that I still haven't got shoes for my dress for GenCon, today wasn't so bad. Seriously. Woke up. Ate breakfast. Went shopping. Came back...

But tonight...ugh...

My computer wouldn't start up. It wouldn't get past the damn Windows XP loading page. And [info]ladystarblade had to put it in safe mode and see what she could manage. We ended up resetting it to an earlier date and then I updated my Virus protection to the mega protection thing and I'm hoping this takes care of the problem. Nothing gets me madder than when my computer won't function.

But I'm chilling out.

Went accessory shopping last night for the dance. I think I'm set except for the shoes. WOW!! Never thought that would happen. Well, that and alterations. Which I need to get the shoes and get into get the dress altered and hope it's all done in time. Problem...I'm not home much between now and then and every weekend will be busy.

ACK! *panic*
