Ughness...

Only The Good Die Young
The air conditioning is apparently not on in my building. And I'm dying. Honestly. I think I may prop the door open just to get air circulating...because it's stuffy and hot and I'm not being productive because of it.

Ugh.

And it's going to be humid today...so this won't be fun if the air doesn't kick on. And, of course, I left my ponytail holder at home today. All the other days I had it and had no use for it. I don't want to pull my hair back with a rubberband because...OW. GRRRR.

I hope this isn't an omen of how the day is going to run.

Anger...frustration...gloom...dark...

  • May. 28th, 2008 at 8:35 AM
Let it go...
I'm not having a good day.

Nothing bad has happened...yet. It's just been rather blah. It wasn't BLAH when I was home. It wasn't BLAH when I was riding into work.

It was BLAH when I got here. And I've been sitting at my desk, not just hating being here but hating myself for being here. And I just can't shake this mood. I feel trapped. And I've been on the frickin' verge of tears all morning for no other reason except the fact that I am NOT happy at all with being here and I can't fix that.

My guitar has been frustrating me. I just can't get it. And I get aggrevated when I don't get it. No matter how long I sit there trying to get my fingers just so...and trying to strum just right...I feel like I'm failing.

My lesson is tonight...I'm not prepared...again. Because I HAVE NO FREAKIN' TIME TO FREAKIN' PRACTICE!

Midterm was yesterday. Feeling rather apathetic on it. Some of it I feel I did okay. Other parts of it I'm just...eh...I studied as much as I possibly could for that thing. So, we'll see if it paid off. I never know what to expect when it's a first exam like that. Unfortunately, it's worth 25% of my grade. Yeah. I hate trial-by-fire exams with teachers.

Wow...this entry is just...ugh. I'll stop now.

Disappointments...

  • May. 11th, 2008 at 9:02 PM
Let it go...
I've been pretty "meh" this weekend. I really don't feel as though I should complain...but I didn't get to really accomplish anything.

--I practiced my guitar for maybe 10 minutes all weekend. Will I know "Wild Thing" by Wednesday? Not when I have class on Monday and Tuesday. *sigh*

--I didn't read any of the 300 pages that I had in my book for class. This...is not good. Class is at 5:45 tomorrow night...and I bet Miss K will be in my office tomorrow.

--I didn't get to do my photo shoot. And this was something I've been looking forward to. Yesterday was shot. I mean, the entire day was shot. And today was cold and rainy outside which meant...no photo shoot. And this just puts me in a blah mood. As does the weather.

--I wanted to clean my room. I accomplished cleaning off the coffee table (but only because Maureen was over and she fixed the loose leg) and I did some culling of my greeting cards and letters that I've saved since, oh, 1994. Yeah, that took all day.

--I wanted to clean the apartment. I wasn't home long enough to even start on that.

--I wanted to draw. I mean, get out the sketch pad and draw. I didn't. But I did manage to create some LJ icons for [info]ladystarblade...that she likes and will use. Well, two of them. One is already in use. The other has yet to be uploaded...but she likes it.

--I feel like an underachiever. As in what I've done in life thus far. Weird. I think it has to do with not owning slips of paper that document my successes. My memory is all I have to serve that purpose.

--San Francisco is going to be my big trip this year. I say this only because it's going to cost me everything I have to get out there. And, unfortunately, the trip falls at the same time my car payment is due, my college tuition needs to be paid, Dragon*Con needs to be attended (and paid for!), and my September birthday month of doom begins. It's going to be fun...as soon as all the logistics get worked out and I stop freaking out about the money situation. Come on economic stimulus check.

--My individual meeting is on Wednesday with JJW. I intend to voice my thoughts on the way I was treated last week. Because I'm still pissed off about it.

--I'm wondering if my job will be of any use in the near future. Special Events is being taken away from Alumni Affairs...and does the director of Alumni Affairs really need an assistant when Special Events are no longer involved? Things that make you go hmmmm...

--Laundry was pretty much the only thing on my list that needed to be done this weekend that I actually accomplished. That and baking banana bread.

Much sadness.

But tomorrow starts another week. Hopefully one that isn't as full of suckage.

Commencement woes...

  • May. 1st, 2008 at 8:44 AM
Eeyore sigh
Nothing is worse than coming into work to a laundry list of things that need to be done. Granted, we host Commencement on Monday, so, I understand. But ask me to do something. Don't tell me. And if things need to be delivered and I don't have a car today...deliver it yourself. Don't make me borrow your car. I don't want to.

*sigh*

I've checked off two things on my to-do list that was left by Miss K on my e-mail yesterday. This is my payback for leaving the Madeline Albright event...I just know it.

*double sigh*

And here I was going to do a blog I've been wanting to do since the weekend. Maybe later. Maybe.

Here it is...

Bon Jovi - Have a nice day
Today was just strange...

I had weird dreams last night. Seriously.

Then, I didn't feel good at all this morning. And cooked breakfast which made us run late.

Work was just...MEH!

Went to class.

I did get to watch a cool documentary on Fox News in my Journalism Ethis class as we discussed media monopolies. VERY intersting.

Then I went to history. Turned in the midterm essay of doom and listened to a lecture about The Great Society.

Came home.

Showered.

Watched American Idol.

Finally logged online to much drama in the Peter Cincotti camp. [info]after_lastnight...I honestly didn't want to call you, but I felt the faster this was taken care of the better...and since I didn't have the proper power to do it myself...

I do hope you went back to sleep, girl. ♥

And now I have a migraine starting. Oh...joy!

What I've accomplished thus far...

  • Feb. 27th, 2008 at 10:09 PM
Micky Dolenz - Sad Eyes
It doesn't feel like much...

1. Wrote almost all of first draft of mid term essay due on Tuesday.
2. Studied (sorta) for quiz in History tomorrow.
3. Did Journalism Ethics homework.

What I still NEED to do:

1. Talk to advisor re: Summer I classes.
2. Talk to History teacher re: if I'm doing mid term essay correctly.
3. Pull interview with Siochain off recorder, desipher it, write article.
4. E-mail questions to [info]marcgunn and [info]andrewmckee re: fraud incident from last year.
5. Re-write/Finish essay for mid term.
6. Study for and take History quiz tomorrow.

God help me...

I'm a freakin' mess this semester.

Don't Make Me Blog About This #7

  • Feb. 20th, 2008 at 4:36 PM
Don't make me blog about this!
BULLSHIT!!

All of it!!!

[info]ladystarblade was heading to Jeffersonville following the directions and ended up in New Washington. NEW WASHINGTON!!

So, I call Fed Ex to ask them about getting an address changed to her place of business...and no go. I knew that already, but I figured if I bitched enough (and trust me...I turned into the Great Northern Bitch because this is fucking ridiculous!) maybe they would. So...they told me to call again in the morning and they'd give better directions so that whoever came to get the package could find it.

THAT WOULD STILL INVOLVE LEAVING WORK BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A.M. AND 3:00 P.M. WHEN WE CAN'T BECAUSE OUR ASSES HAVE TO BE AT WORK!!

Thanks a whole hell of a lot for nothing FED EX!!

They said they can't change the address because that's how theft happens. THEFT HAPPENS WHEN IT'S LEFT ON MY DOORSTEP!! UPS will change the address. Why the fuck won't FED EX??!!

So yeah...now I'm bitchy. And I hate that [info]ladystarblade drove out there for nothing.

SHITFUCKDAMN!

Don't Make Me Blog About This #6

  • Feb. 20th, 2008 at 3:32 PM
Don't make me blog about this!
Fed Ex.

Oooooh...how I hate Fed Ex.

Fed Ex delivers while both [info]ladystarblade and I are at work. So, of course, we can't sign for the package. The door tag that is left gives us the option of signing to allow them to leave it at the door. After the package that never got to me from [info]turple_purtle via Fed Ex this holiday season there was no way I was trusting others who dwell in my building to not mess with a package.

So, I called Fed Ex on Monday to see about picking it up. First they couldn't find the Door Tag Number that I gave them. Which I read off twice. They said it was at the Fed Ex building in Jeffersonville and that it couldn't be picked up until Tuesday. Whatever. However, Tuesday I have classes at night that keep me until around 7:30 p.m. So, I called this morning to see if I could pick up the package.

Of course, I don't get to talk to the actual building that has my package. It's the 1-800-GoFedEx number I get. GRRR. I talk to someone from India, I swear to god. Outsource much? Anyway...talking to them and find out where my package is. They tell me that they'll have it there for pick up.

[info]ladystarblade has some time to kill before picking me up at work today. So, she asks me to see if she can pick it up. Well...this involves figuring out the actual phone number for the place since GoFedEx number didn't have it. I got online. Found it. Called.

Spoke to a guy there. He told me that no one is usually there after 3:00 p.m. and that pick-ups are to happen between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. How is this conducive to people who work from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.???? And I made that point. I told the guy that the reason we have to pick up the package is because we are not home when they try to deliver it because we are at work. And now we're expected to be able to get enough time off to go down there and pick it up during the time we work too?? NOT HAPPY!

Then he said he could hang out until 4:30 p.m. but no later (since he was there getting some stuff done anyway) to allow [info]ladystarblade to get down there to get the package. *SIGH!* So...this gives her 30 minutes from the time she gets off work heading into rush hour to go from where she works to Jeffersonville and get in the building with her ID before this guy closes shop at 4:30 p.m.

Right...

Then he asks if I know for sure the package is there. I told him that the 1-800-GoFedEx person told me it was. He started laughing and said he'd check. He asked for any package identification and I told him I had a Door Tag Number that apparently didn't work. He asked for names and address. I gave them. Appparently they do have it. Apparently they will hold it.

And apparently, [info]ladystarblade is going to risk life and limb to get down there and finally get this package, that was sent to us by [info]after_lastnight after the whole Christmas package she sent went missing in USPS!

It's a nightmare!!

AND WHAT KIND OF COMPANY CLOSES DOWN BEFORE PEOPLE GET OUT OF WORK WHEN THE REASON THEY COULDN'T SIGN FOR THE FRICKIN' PACKAGE IN THE FIRST PLACE IS BECAUSE THEY WERE AT...WORK!!??

Seriously! WTF?

It's just pissed me off. And I send [info]ladystarblade good luck vibes...she'll need them.

And God Speed.

Dear Fed Ex:

You Suck.

No love,
Me.

Paper cuts = Unhappy Donkey!

  • Feb. 19th, 2008 at 2:19 PM
Hammy - This Sucks
I have to have over 30 paper cuts. I have 10 on one finger. I'm not exaggerating. All I've been doing is stuffing envelopes and folding letters. ALL DAY!!

I'm tired of it.

I want to go home.

But I have class.

Dammit.

Baby...it's frozen outside...

  • Feb. 13th, 2008 at 8:42 AM
Bon Jovi - Have a nice day
Cold too...but frozen. So much so that my gear shift wouldn't shift out of park on my car this morning. I kid you not. It just...wouldn't...budge. So, I wasn't going anywhere as planned.

[info]lost_judi came and got both [info]ladystarblade and I to take us to work. THANK YOU!! As much as I would have loved an excuse not to be in my office, I don't want to waste a vacation day on a stupid gear shift. I called Toyota and they said the only thing they think it could be is some water or slush got kicked up on the transmission and froze there when the temperature dropped last night. So, maybe it will thaw out during the course of the day. We'll see...as it's not going to get past the mid-twenties. *sigh*

If this was Valentine's Day...I could blame the V-Day curse. But it's the day before, dammit!

So, when I get home, I get to see if the car will move or not. The other issue is when I got home from class last night, the only spot in the parking lot had thawed to water. And refroze last night. So the wheels were kind of stuck as well.

The world laughs at my misfortune.

I know it does.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

Paul Wang Scream
So. Much. Hate.

And over what?

The school bookstore.

And I'll tell you why.

At the beginning of the semester, which was January 7, we had 5 books we needed for my history class. Five. Only four came in before class started. Over Super Bowl weekend, we were supposed to read the book that hadn't come in. So, he redid our syllabus.

The book came in on Thursday.

The bookstore was supposed to call me.

They didn't.

I just happened to be heading downstairs to get something with caffeine in it when I thought I'd check to see if it ever came in. I had to go back upstairs to get my pink paper to prove I was supposed to get it and, of course, had already paid my $22.00 for it. So, I did. Got the book.

Went to class that evening. My professor decides that since we're past the Cold War, we're not going to even try to go back and read it. So, he said to return the book.

Today, after the long power outage, I finally get to a place to go downstairs and see about getting my refund. It would be great to have that, you know, for over the weekend. I mean, it's $22.00.

So...I go to the back window. I talk to the person who GAVE ME THE DAMN BOOK yesterday. She said that she can't take it back until she hears from my professor. She called him, but it's Friday. There are no classes on Friday. So he's not here. So...it probably won't be until Monday before I hear back. But I mean...I got grilled.

Bookstore: "So...no one in your class has read this?"

Me: "No. We were supposed to read it last weekend, but it wasn't in yet. Remember, I just got it yesterday."

Bookstore: "No one at all?"

Me: "No!"

Bookstore: "Well, we can't do anything until we hear from your professor. It will probably be Monday."

Me: "Well, can you call me at my desk upstairs when you hear back?"

Bookstore: "Sure."

Me: "I'm at 2415...Alumni Affairs."

Bookstore: *blinks* "Can I get your first name."

YEAH BITCHES!! I'm not trying to jip you out of your money. I work for the frickin' university. I just am NEVER going to read this book and I'd rather get a full refund than say...the $3.48 they'd offer if I waited until the end of the semester for book return. BLAH!

SO ANGRY!

Thanks [info]ladystarblade for calling so I could vent! :)

So, about today...

  • Jan. 30th, 2008 at 10:19 PM
Hammy - This Sucks
It sucked. No, really. It did.

But let's start with the good part.

I went to the dentist today. Finally. This time for a cleaning. And wow!! What a difference. Since it had been so long since I'd had a cleaning (think...7th or 8th grade), they did a few sets of X-rays. The ones where you have to bite around the film thingie and then the nifty 360 one that revolves around your head. I had had that done once before when I went to get my wisdom teeth pulled. So, teeth were cleaned. My dentist told me not very many people had teeth like mine. Apparently, they're rather sturdy. No cavities. Good news there.

Back to work.

The Student Alumni Association (SAA) was running a drive for a give away for a free class ring. Unfortunately, whenever SAA is running an event, it means none of the students show up and my boss and I have to work it. I was down there from 11:00 - 3:30. Yeah. It was horrible. I got my homework done in that time, but it was insane. I was sitting on a hard bench all day. It was noisy. Just BLAH!!

My ass hurt after that and I really didn't want to sit down. So, then I went upstairs and my boss took over. And two SAA guys showed up at 4:00 to work the table. UGH!!! NOT HAPPY!

So it put me in a mood because all my work ended up having to sit the entire day since I was out of the office for most of it.

BLAH!!

Computer suckery!

  • Jan. 27th, 2008 at 9:43 AM
That's a negative!
Yeah...suckery. A new word. But nothing else seems to fit this situation. If you thought you had computer issues, [info]sidewinder...just look at the hot mess that awaited [info]ladystarblade yesterday:

1. Computer taking forever to boot up.
2. Get idea to wipe computer hard drive.
3. Realize WipeDrive disc is with another computer.
4. Go to Best Buy and purchase WipeDrive program.
5. WipeDrive program is $30 more than expected.
6. Go home
7. I ask [info]ladystarblade about boot disc for after WipeDrive.
8. [info]ladystarblade doesn't know where boot disc is.
9. [info]ladystarblade drives to family house to find said boot disc with operating system on it.
10. [info]ladystarblade calls to say she can't find it and is coming home.
10. While she's heading home, I find the box with the computer boot disc and operating system.
11. I call [info]ladystarblade to tell her the news.
12. I start WipeDrive.
13. WipeDrive clears off the hard drive.
14. [info]ladystarblade returns home and realizes that the operating system on the boot disc is Windows ME (Millenium Edition).
15. Install Windows ME.
16. Try to install Microsoft Office 2003.
17. Get an error that says Microsoft Office 2003 is not compatible with Windows ME.
18. [info]ladystarblade cusses...a lot.
19. [info]ladystarblade goes to see if she can find a Windows XP disc at her family house.
20. Discover that the router for her wireless connection will not work with Windows ME.
21. [info]ladystarblade returns.
22. Bitch, bitch, bitch.
23. Use WipeDrive to wipe the computer again.
24. After much shouting, deliberation, and tears, we head out to Wal-Mart for a copy of Windows XP.
25. Cannot find anything but Windows XP Upgrade.
26. Discover all we need is the Windows XP Upgrade anyway.
27. Spend $105.85 on Windows XP Upgrade.
28. Return home.
29. Reinstall Windows ME from boot disc.
30. Install Windows XP Upgrade.
31. Halfway through upgrade, get error message about not having enough memory (uh...just wiped the whole computer and XP was on it before!) or the disc being corrupt.
32. More cussing, bitching, and anger.
33. Reinstall Windows ME again.
34. Try to install Windows XP Upgrade again.
35. Halfway through upgrade, get error message about not having enough memory or the disc being corrupt.
36. LOTS of swearing and bitching.
37. Decide to reinstall Windows ME and attempt to register it.
38. Realize that Windows ME is not set up for broadband internet, as it did not exist when operating system was made.
39. Install wireless adaptor for router anyway.
40. Cannot connect to Microsoft site because it is busy.
41. Bitch. Bitch. Bitch.
42. Try to install the Windows XP Upgrade again.
43. Halfway through upgrade, get error message about not having enough memory or the disc being corrupt.
44. Gave up and shut everything down.
45. Called hacker friend to come over this morning to fix it.

Seriously, folks...I can't make this shit up. And we really can't afford a new computer (or the hassel of Windows Vista...BLARF!). Nor could we really afford these programs, especially if they aren't working. Nor can we really afford to be down a computer.

Just sayin'.

GAH!

Keep your fingers crossed. We're going to need it.

What a day...no...seriously!

  • Jan. 20th, 2008 at 9:23 PM
You think i'm so tough but I just never
Today...sucked!

For the most part.

I won't go into details. It just sucked. Mightily. And I hate that for a weekend, especially when I'm caught up on my homework and everything. But...shit happens, eh?

It eventually improved.

It just took awhile.
Does Everyone Stare The Way I Do?
Still don't feel good. Still got a final exam tomorrow. Still have hardly studied.

And yes...this still bothers me.

I just...can't...focus!!

Fuck.

Oh BLAH!!!

Donkey on the Edge!
So...seems that someone hacked my MySpace account and has been spamming people. I changed my password. Hopefully that will help.

Can the world just stop being full of suck for one moment...please?

*cough*...*sniffle*...

The name is Bond...James Bond
I hate waking up at 4:00 a.m. Yesterday it was 3:30 a.m. I think this 3-week long cold is screwing with my body because I can't take another day of waking up at odd hours of the morning. I tried to get back to sleep, but then the congestion started in. So, that prevented any type of resting. So...I finally hauled my ass out of bed, took a shower, and have been surfing the internet.

So. Very. Tired. Of. This.

Okay...it was worth it...

  • Dec. 5th, 2007 at 10:21 AM
Life happened while making plans
At first I wondered. Because everything that could go wrong to prevent us from getting to see Fiction Plane...was happening. [info]ladystarblade had to go find my phone, which somehow ended up under the dining room table. Then, she had to go to get food and met incompetant people. And it took longer than normal. Then, there's the whole incident with her tooth on the ride to the venue. *sigh* We get there, and it's cold and no one is around, so we go into the public library in Covington...then we go back out and stand by the doors. Doors were to open at 7:00 p.m. Doors didn't open until 7:20 p.m. They at least had my name on will call for tickets. We got our bracelets, which wouldn't stay on, and went inside. Music was to start at 8:00 p.m. Music started around 8:45 p.m.

BUT...

When it got around to Fiction Plane, they did rock the house. They were amazing. And I loved seeing them in the club setting as they were able to interact more with the audience. And despite the low ceiling, Joe went leaping off the amps. That boy, I swear.

The worst part...

As we all know, I've had this round of sickness since Thanksgiving. Well, I was on the mend. But...there was smoking allowed in the bar. So, breathing was becoming a problem. Speaking was becoming a problem. Ugh. Aside from smelling like smoke when we left, today I woke up with sinus issues. The smoke may have turned the yuckiness into a sinus infection. NOT HAPPY! To make it worse, the guys closed their set with the song "Cigarette," which I love. Except when every smoker lights up. EW!

But, I did steal the set list from the stage after the show. Because when I go to a club setting, this tends to be my routine. HA!

So, while I feel miserable today because of the lung cancer I've probably now developed...and the sinus infection I'm pretty damn sure I have...it was totally worth it and the 2 hours it took to get there and the 2 hours it took to get back. Had a blast!

Just...ugh...

Does Everyone Stare The Way I Do?
So...I've been fighting this cold. First it was the whole voice thing. Then the sinus thing. Now I'm at a coughing phase. And it sucks because I had a major coughing fit at 3:00 a.m. and it wouldn't stop. I finally gave up on sleep, washed my hair, and am now chilling out. I think I might wrap a few Christmas presents that are lingering around unwrapped.

I'm just pissed. Tonight I'm off to a concert about 2 hours away. And the return trip, I want to be alert and not dozing. And it's been 2 weeks. I just want to be better.

UGH!

Eh...it's been one of those days...

  • Dec. 1st, 2007 at 5:03 PM
Stewart Copeland Is OK
You know...the kind where you're just sort of moody. And I know a lot of this is because I STILL don't feel well. Combine that with my Christmas shopping that has accomplished...next to nothing...and you have a very unhappy person.

And I'm tired, even though I slept a good 8 hours. Perhaps that's why. Too much sleep.

I don't know. I just want to curl up for awhile and just...not worry about anything.

Except...I have a project due on Monday and nothing really DONE for it. So...ugh.
